Starting from ground zero, we wondered. What would education look like without classrooms, walls or borders?
We took the time to build a model and to test it deeply. After all, this was not an extension of present day schools, it was a clean slate.
We began our pilot in 1997 with a single student and a simple question: Can we deliver an education inspired by her individual needs?
The answer was a resounding yes. After a short adjustment period, she flourished in our system, digging deeper into her studies and applying herself so well that she finished her school year seven weeks early.
With such impressive results and intense interest from parents and students around the world, we decided that it was time to expand the pilot project. Inviting a select number of pioneers to join the program, we began to test our abilities to deliver personalized education on a larger scale. This is the foundation of what has become a highly configurable system.
We've had students migrate from the pilot back to the traditional system and we've had our first student complete her studies in our program to become our first graduate. Some have participated full time and others have taken individual courses to enrich and compliment their traditional school education. All have proven to be viable options.
Although they've come from diverse backgrounds and explored many different learning options, all of our students have been impressed by the individualized attention offered to them. They’ve been amazed at just how personal it feels. Even though they’ve shared their teachers with a number of other students, it’s felt like those teachers have been speaking to them alone. Our pilot had officially proven the power of the point delivery.
